Tired

Tired

I hate those mornings where you wake up with a startle because you’re pretty sure you’re dad hasn’t left for work yet. So you jump out of bed, accidentally wake the baby, only to find dad has already left and you just slept through it all.

You now have two options; try getting the baby back to sleep which could take 5 mins or 2 hours or give up and come downstairs, put CBeebies on and make yourself a large coffee.

Guess which one I ended up choosing?!

Who else has done something similar?!

18 weeks and feeling good

18 weeks and feeling good

Bump turned 18 weeks on Tuesday. I can’t believe it, time flies so quickly! It’s only about 13 days till I have my scan and then I’m half way through the pregnancy.

Even now I still can’t believe I’m growing a little human inside of me. I never thought I’d get the chance and now I am I’m so in love with this little bump.

I’m doing much better with how I’m feeling and nausea this past week. Fingers crossed but I haven’t had any sickness or nausea for over a week. Also my energy levels have gone up a bit, I still get tired in the afternoon but I don’t need to nap just rest. I’m getting more uncomfortable at night though but once I’m a sleep I only wake up if I need the loo. Talking of loos, I feel like I live in the toilet. I need to go all the time and even sometimes straight after I’ve just been 😂 appetite is healthy and I just want food all the time. Nothing usually in particular as long as it’s quick to make and in my tummy.

How did you all cope with pregnancy at this stage? I worry sometimes that if I move wrong or bend over too much I’m going to hurt the baby. I know it’s silly but does it calm down this fear?

Hope everyone is well as can be.

Choc chip muffins recipe

Choc chip muffins recipe

So I finally have the recipe ready for those choc chip muffins I cooked last week. I forgot to take some pictures as I was doing it but it’s so straight forward I don’t think you’ll need them.

I’ve also tried this with cheese and bacon. I added about 100g of grated cheese and two or three slices of bacon already cooked and chopped up. Not the healthiest of breakfasts but they do make a change and a treat especially at the weekend.

Ingredients

  • 250 g self-raising flour

  • tsp vanilla extract

  • 175 g caster sugar

  • large egg

  • 250 ml milk

  • tsp baking powder

  • 90 ml vegetable oil

  • tbsp cocoa powder

  • 150 g chocolate chips

    Method

    1. 200C/Gas Mark 6 and fill a 12 bun muffin tray with paper cases.
    2. Weigh out the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Pour all the liquid ingredients into a large jug or bowl. Make sure to add only half the choc chips.
    3. Mix both bowls together – DO NOT OVERMIX. It will be a lumpy but runny batter. Spoon into the muffin cases.
    4. Sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chips on top and then cook for 20 mins or until risen and springy. I checked about 15 mins and turned the tray round for an even cook.
    5. Dust with icing sugar for a perfect finish.
    6. These will last for a few days if kept in a air tight container. Of course that’s if they hang around long enough.
  • Weekend catch up

    Weekend catch up

So I’m currently sitting in my bath reading through everyone’s blogs that I have been following, and new ones that I have found and I realised that I haven’t posted for a few days 😳 so here goes your weekend catch up!

Friday I finally got my ass outta the house and went swimming with my mum. She’s been going quite regularly in order to get a bit fitter and help her bad back and joints, I’ve been proud of her keeping it up so decided I would join her. I’ve been a couple times before and even though I love swimming and being in the water, I’m not a very confident swimmer. I usually just swim half a length then go back and do this a couple of times. I’ve heard it’s an excellent exercise choice for pregnant women so I’ll carry on, although my costume is starting to get very tight 😄

Saturday I ended up at a friends daughters christening party. I’ve known her for quite a few years but the past year we drifted and I felt awkward walking in but by the end of it I enjoyed myself and was pleased to see some familiar faces in the shape of old friends and her family members. I didn’t stay for long but got my slices of cake and a sweetie bag before my brother picked me up. We all done the obligatory “we’ll have to catch up soon” and who knows, we may well do especially as we are both out of work and I could do with some parenting tips. 😊

Today has been the ultimate lazy day. The original plan had been to go to a local boot fair with my brother, his boyfriend and my mum. However we woke up after the weird, mess with your head, time change and saw that it was raining and decided a day in doors would be much nicer and warmer. The parents and I ended up watching the F1 racing, and a couple of recorded shows. We also all made dessert together which consisted of runny treacle tart and some lovely jam tarts, with ice cream.

    Chocolate chip muffins

    Chocolate chip muffins

Woke up craving a little chocolate so thought I would make these

They taste absolutely amazing but slight flaw in that all the choc chips sunk to the bottom 😒 I’m going to try and find a remedy for this but if you have any ideas how to help I’ll be very grateful!

Once I’ve sorted out the problem I’ll have the recipe up 😀

    A long day…

    A long day…

Yesterday felt like a very long day, I was up at 7, spent all day hanging around my gorgeous aunts house waiting for my car to be fixed by my cousins husband, then made the long journey home by myself before going to sleep before 9pm as I was that knackered.

I travelled down Wednesday afternoon to my aunts place in Biddenden, Kent, a beautiful little village nestled between fields of baa lambs, as I had to get a new clutch for my little fiesta. My local garage was quoting £500 for the job, my cousin £200! I love going down there and it had been a while since my last visit so it was a no brainer for me. Also gave me a chance to show off my little growing bump to everyone.

It took my cousin all day to fix the car but I’m so grateful for it. Saved me loads of money and I got a brand spanking new clutch. I must admit the drive home was very funny, it took me quite a while to get used to the new biting point and lots of jerking around ensued.

But like I said once I got home the drive had obviously worn me out, I was so tired, everything ached and my legs felt like jelly. I ended up having a small dinner and going straight to bed, sleep followed very closely after.

Today is going to be a day of rest for me, catching up on my shows I think and spending sometime with mum.

    17 weeks…

    17 weeks…

    (Scan at 12weeks)

So yesterday I turned 17 weeks pregnant! 😀

I must admit I haven’t had it too bad so far, the occasional bouts of morning sickness and a couple days of weird, strong stomach pains but the past couple of weeks I’ve been feeling really uncomfortable, already. I’m thinking its part due to my fibromyalgia as well, which is making the pain in my lower back and pelvis that much more pronounced but I’ve been able to ease it with plenty of rest, maybe the odd paracetamol, warm baths and a couple of pregnancy massage appointments.

I’m lucky in that I’m not currently at work so if I do need a day of complete rest I can take it without guilt of taking a day off work. I also live at home still with my parents so they help wherever they can, especially mum, who’s beyond excited that her first grandchild is on the way. I also have a lot of help from my amazing brother who is definitely going to be the best uncle ever. I’m glad he’s around to help especially because baby daddy is being rather AWOL at the moment but anyways let’s not get into that right now…

I had my second midwife appointment where I got to listen to the incredible sound of little beans heartbeat. I posted a video of it over on my Instagram @eyelashbaby , go take a listen 🙂 Midwife told me it was a lovely strong, healthy sound which made me feel so proud over bubba, I couldn’t stop smiling all day. I also took the advantage of asking the midwife about the fact that I’m toying with the idea of a home birth. I’ve always thought I’d have my baby in a birth centre but recently have been seeing lots of women choosing home births and loving every moment of it so I’m curious, what are your thoughts on it? Have any of you experienced home births?

Day 1 – first diary entry

Day 1 – first diary entry

I thought I would use this first entry as a way to introduce myself briefly to you all.

My name is Jennie and I’m 26, pregnant with my first baby, scared and excited in equal measures. I was diagnosed last year with fibromyalgia even though I believe I have had it since I was a young teenager. I live in South East London and spend a lot of time in the South East of England.

It looks like, for the foreseeable future anyways, that I will be a single mother and be living at home with my deaf parents throughout this pregnancy. I have a younger brother, whom I’m very close to and he lives with his boyfriend about 20 minutes away so I see him as much as possible.

Throughout this blog I will expand on everything I have mentioned here but just wanted to start off with a quick post.

I will also be taking you through my daily activities with days out, cooking/recipes, and my life being pregnant as a single parent suffering from fibromyalgia.

Hope you like the sound of me so far and stick around for the rest of my diary entries.
